The University of Waterloo Centre for Automotive Research (WatCAR) conducts advanced automotive and transportation systems research to enhance innovation and competitiveness. More than 115 researchers, the largest university-based automotive activity in the country, undertake leading edge studies for industry partners around the world.
Based in Canada’s largest Faculty of Engineering, we conduct leading-edge research across all of Waterloo’s six faculties including Mathematics (computer software), Science (electrochemistry and nano-materials), Environment (knowledge integration), Applied Health Sciences (kinesiology), and Arts (voice recognition).

WatCAR serves as a focal point for Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs), Automotive Parts Manufacturers (Tiers I, II and III), and Material Suppliers to identify and access industry-relevant research competencies across campus.
