The Waterloo Centre for Automotive Research (WatCAR) is an automotive research centre at the University of Waterloo focused on leading-edge studies to enhance automotive innovation and competitiveness.

More than 75 automotive researchers, the largest university-based automotive activity in Canada, undertake key technologies-enabling research in the Faculties of Engineering, Applied Health Sciences, Mathematics, and Science.

Their vision of the vehicle of the future is something lightweight, safe and intelligent, powered by alternative fuels, environmentally sustainable and user-friendly. WatCAR serves as a focal point for Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs), Automotive Parts Manufacturers (Tier 1 and 2), Material Suppliers and Government to access automotive research and programs on campus.
